WS40 Weather Signature

Create a live weather signature image for forums and email. Supports a compact banner and a larger weather card.

Features

  • Dashboard color, name, domain, units, and field controls.
  • Small “Powered By text and WS40 Meteotemplate logo” badge on both signature designs.
  • Optional background image URL that fills the signature area behind the weather text and borders.
  • Rounded signature edges with transparent outside corners in PNG mode. Optional transparent background setting that preserves the border and Powered By text and WS40 Meteotemplate logo outline.
  • WS40 database source with configurable columns.
  • Generic JSON weather endpoint source for other websites, with exact example mappings for Cervignano Weather.
  • Copyable image URLs, forum BBCode, email HTML, and shortcodes.
  • Cached data and clear missing-value display.
  • Administrator-only Test JSON Connection button checks HTTP response, JSON validity, configured field mappings, and reported units.

Setup

  1. Activate the plugin.
  2. Open Settings → Weather Signature.
  3. Choose WS40 database or External JSON weather API.
  4. Configure the source mapping, then copy the signature code for your forum or email.

Important: The WS40 database mapping expects temperatures in Celsius and wind speed/gust in km/h. JSON endpoints may provide unit metadata; use Test JSON Connection to check connectivity and field mappings. Forum and email providers may cache images.

Version 0.1.6: “Powered By” sits outside the logo border; the WS40 Meteotemplate logo remains inside its own outlined box on both signature layouts.

Version 0.1.7: Added an optional background image URL in Settings → Weather Signature. Paste the full image URL (for example, a WordPress Media Library image URL). The image is cropped to fill the signature, and text and borders are drawn over it. Leave the field blank to use the background color or transparent background option.

Version 0.2.1: Fixed background images so they follow the rounded signature corners instead of remaining square. The outer border remains visible.
